I spent three weeks in Iceland, touring around the Ring Road, with detours into the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and the Westfjords. I did not get into the Highlands much due to cost and schedule. Iceland also had a harsh winter (even by its terms) and a cool summer, so more snow than usual was still on the ground. During my time here though I went hiking, sightseeing, whale watching, sea kayaking, and even snorkeling. This country had a lot of mountains, fjords, glaciers, volcanoes, and waterfalls. I probably could have spent another week or two here.
Iceland felt like a mini New Zealand, although colder and more expensive. Also less hobbits and more trolls.
